Professional Packing in LaPlace, LA
This counter has been packing other people's things since 1987. Fragile, awkward, heavy, irreplaceable. If it fits in a box we can usually get it there.
How We Price It
There is no separate labor line on your receipt. The work is already built into the cost of the packing materials we use on your item. We look at what you brought, tell you what it will cost, and then pack it. You hear the number before we start.
Custom Boxes
We keep 50 to 60 stock sizes and we cut and build to size when none of them fit. We glue boxes together for long items and we keep sheets of cardboard for building around an odd shape.
Fragile and High Value
For artwork, glass, mirrors and anything that will not survive a single wall of cardboard, we build a double box: an inner box around the item, a second box around that, and cushioning between the two. This is the packing standard carriers expect when a damage claim is filed.
Electronics and Instruments
We stock proper materials for monitors, desktop computers and laptops. We have boxes built for guitars. Bring the item in and we will tell you what it needs.
Insurance
Coverage costs $4 for every $100 of declared value. We insure items up to $7,500.
One condition, and it matters. If you want the item insured, we have to pack it. We also photograph every stage of the packing as we go. If a claim comes back later, those photos are the proof that the item was packed to the carrier's standard. Without them a claim gets denied, and the reason given is almost always the packing.
If you would rather pack it yourself, you can insure it through an outside service using the tracking number. We will not insure an item we did not pack, because we would lose that claim.
What We Do Not Do
We do not build wooden crates. For anything that needs a crate or a pallet, ask us and we will point you somewhere that does.
